Parasites: inside and out

There are two types of parasites that can affect your dog: internal and external. Fleas, ticks and a few others live, for the most part, on the outside. Internal parasites are another matter and include such notable characters as tapeworms, roundworms and heartworms.
There are three general reasons why you'll want to avoid parasites in your dogs life:

They can drain or siphon important nutrients from your dog's system
They can cause a variety of health related problems
They can carry and transmit diseases

Lets take a closer look at some of the more prevalent parasites in the dog world
